1. Recognize the 3 recreational sub-profiles from hand 5
Saying "this player is a fish" is not enough to maximize your cEV. In 3-max Spin & Go, recreational players split into three behavioral families that SpinCrusher's automatic In-Game tagging tells apart immediately:
- The Passive Calling Station (
[CS],[LMP],[CCB],[BLC]badges): VPIP ≥ 60%, PFR ≤ 20%. They complete almost every blind, call iso-raises out of position, call 65% of flop c-bets with any gutshot or King-high, and hate folding before the river. - The "Fit-or-Fold" / Timid Passive recreational (
[LMP]+[FCB]+[ROF]badges): they want to see lots of cheap flops by limping, but as soon as they miss the flop they fold more than 65% of the time to a simple 1/3-pot c-bet. - The Maniac / Aggro-Spewy (
[LAG],[OSD],[DNK],[AF+]badges): they raise or open-shove at 20 BB with marginal hands, donk-bet pot on every flop and fire 3 barrels as pure bluffs.
The SpinCrusher popover filtered vs FISH instantly isolates exploit frequencies against recreational profiles.
2. Punish limps: optimal iso-raise and iso-shove sizings
When a recreational limps on the Button or in the Small Blind ([LMP] Limper or [SBL] SB limper tag), their range is almost always capped (they would have raised or shoved their best pairs and big aces). Your plan of attack depends on your position and depth:
- In position (BB vs SB limp at 16–25 BB): use an iso-raise sizing between 2.5x and 3x with your value hands (top 25% of hands) and the connected/suited hands that dominate their limp-calling range.
- Out of position (SB or BB vs BTN limp at 16–25 BB): raise your isolation sizing to 3.5x – 4x to build the pot immediately with your strong hands (
ATo+, KQo+, 77+, A8s+, KTs+), because the Calling Station will pay the same price withQ7oorJ8s. - Between 10 BB and 15 BB: favor the direct iso-shove (all-in) with all your pairs (
22+), your aces (A2o+) and your Broadways (KTo+, QJo). You collect the dead money from the limp without letting the recreational realize their postflop equity for free.
3. Postflop vs a Calling Station: max sizings and zero river bluffs
Against a player carrying the [CCB] Calls the c-bet, [BBC] Pays big bets or [BLC] River bluff-catcher badges, GTO sizing-balance theory no longer applies. Apply maximum asymmetric exploitation:
- Big value sizing from the flop (66% to 85% of the pot, even an overbet): when you hit top pair or better on a connected board, don't make a small 1/3-pot c-bet. The Calling Station has an inelastic range: if they have a pair or a draw, they'll pay 75% of the pot as often as 33%.
- Thin value on 3 streets: don't be afraid to bet second pair or top pair with a weak kicker on flop, turn and river when the main draws miss.
- Radically cut river bluffs: never try to make a player with a WTSD ≥ 38% (
[WT+]badge) fold third pair on the river. Save those blinds: on their own they represent +6 to +8 cEV per game!
4. How to react to 1 BB donk-bets and postflop min-raises
The 1-blind donk-bet on the flop or turn ([DNK] Donk-bettor badge) is the classic signature of recreational players on PMU Poker, Winamax and Betclic. In more than 80% of cases this 1 BB bet means: "I have a small medium pair, a weak draw or two overcards and I want to set the price myself to see the next card without facing a big c-bet."
The surgical counter: treat the 1 BB donk-bet exactly like a check! Raise all your value hands and your good-equity bluffs at the same sizing you would have chosen if the villain had checked. However, if a passive recreational ([PAS] AF ≤ 1.0 badge) donk-bets pot or min-raises the turn at you, sound the alarm immediately: it very often indicates two pair or a set.
5. Use the Popover vs FISH and the Table Quality Index (TQE)
In SpinCrusher, two tools work together to maximize your profitability against recreationals:
- The Popover vs FISH: it shows you not only the recreational's leaks, but also how the regular sitting in the 3rd seat deviates when trying to isolate that fish (so you can place ultra-profitable isolation 3-bets).
- The TQE (Table Quality Engine) badge: displayed directly on the table, it calculates in real time the expected chip gain (e.g.
+16.4 cEV / game) generated by having one or two recreational profiles at your table.
